2005 Outlook: Brokers optimistic about future, yet remain worried about recruiting and profitability
(Boonton, NJ, December 15, 2004) After a record-breaking 2004, many brokers expect 2005 to be even better for their companies, although recruiting and profitability remain daunting concerns. Those are among the findings of the Real Estate Brokers Insiders annual reader survey. <>Two key questions in the survey focused on the volume of home sales and mortgage rates in the new year. Fully one-third of readers expect home sales to increase in 2005, a prediction that could prove a bit optimistic.
Some 82 percent of the industry newsletters readers expect mortgage rates to rise in 2005.
In spite of higher rates, 56 percent predict that their own companies will fare better this year than in 2004. Only 7 percent expect a slowdown, and 37 percent expect their fortunes to level off.
Weve had such a banner year this year that to expect an increase could be expecting too much, one broker says.
