Looking to Expand Services, Residential Real Estate Broker Beefs Up Commercial Division
Residential and commercial markets operate on different cycles, so doing both types of business adds diversification. But hiring the right people is key.
(Boonton, NJ, December 1, 2009) — After dabbling in commercial real estate for years, Kansas City broker Reece & Nichols Realtors Inc. is making a more focused foray into commercial deals.
The company recently formed Reece Commercial and aims to ramp up recruiting of commercial brokers.
In an article in the December issue of Real Estate Broker's Insider, chief executive officer, Jerry Reece, acknowledges that commercial real estate is going through some stress.
But, he says he's not worried about the timing of the move. He decided to launch his commercial division now largely because he was able to hire a veteran commercial broker to run the division.
"If you're going to do this, you want to do it with the right person," Reece says.
